Workshops
Our workshops are designed to reconnect you with the wisdom of the past while cultivating skills that inspire resilience and creativity today. From animal processing and hide tanning to herbal medicine, fire making, and fiber arts, each class invites you to slow down, work with your hands, and learn from skilled instructors in a welcoming, hands-on environment.
Whether you’re crafting a willow basket, dyeing fabric with native plants, or learning the art of bow making, every workshop is an opportunity to deepen your connection to nature, community, and self.
We believe that by preserving traditional skills, we’re not just keeping history alive — we’re creating a place where knowledge, creativity, and community thrive.

Our Pay-What-You-Can Model
*
Our Pay-What-You-Can Model *
At the NoCo Folk School, we believe that traditional knowledge belongs to everyone—and cost shouldn’t be a barrier to learning.
That’s why many of our classes and events are offered using a Pay-What-You-Can model.
This means:
You choose the price that feels right for you.
Whether you can give a little or a lot, you are welcome here.
If you’re able to pay more, your contribution helps make space for others with less access to financial resources.
We trust in the spirit of reciprocity. When we each give what we can, we create a more inclusive, resilient learning community for all.
We hope to be able to offer more free/scholarship options in the future once our non-profit status allows us to apply to grants.
How this looks:
In the spirit of neighborly care, the price for each workshop shown is our lowest sliding-scale rate.
This helps make our classes accessible to as many people as possible. If this is where you are at, then great! We are very excited to have you.
If you’re in a position to contribute more, we warmly invite you to do so when registering.
Here are some suggestions:
True Cost – Add about 20% to the listed price. This covers the full cost of running the class, including instructor pay, materials handling, and overhead.
Supporter Rate – Add about 40% or more. This helps fund reduced rates for neighbors who might not otherwise be able to attend.
If you have the option to pay more to help others attend, then we are very grateful. Your generosity ensures that everyone—regardless of financial circumstance—can share in the joy of learning, making, and connecting.
Thank you for helping keep our folk school thriving and welcoming for all.
Learning is a birthright. Let’s keep it that way—together.
Register
Thank you for your interest in our Workshops!
Education is our primary principle.
All of our workshops require pre-registration, unless there are last minute openings. If it is less than 24 hours before a class please call us to check availability.
ACCESSIBILITY
Classes are typically held in English with visual aids and handouts given.
They currently take place above the Golden Poppy Herbal Apothecary, which is accessed by a flight of stairs. A private bathroom is available.
If you have any accessibility needs please email us before signing up so we can make arrangements for you to be able to enjoy our classes.
CANCELLATION POLICY
At the Northern Colorado Folk School, we know that life can shift unexpectedly. Our cancellation policy is designed to honor the time, energy, and materials that go into preparing each class, while also being fair to our instructors and community members.
If you sign up for a class and later find out you are not able to attend, please give us as much notice as possible, that way people who are on waiting lists can be notified that a spot has opened up for them.
If you need to cancel your registration, you are always able to request a full credit for a future class instead of a refund.
If you do want to get a refund please take note of the following:
14+ Days Before Class Start –
Receive a full refund, minus a non-refundable administrative fee equal to 15% of the total class fee.8–13 Days Before Class Start –
Receive a 50% refund. If we can fill your spot from our waitlist, we will refund your payment minus the 15% administrative fee.Within 7 Days of Class Start –
No refund is available unless we can fill your spot from the waitlist. If your space is filled, we will refund your payment minus the 15% administrative fee.*
If the class is cancelled by us due to low registration you will be offered the option of a refund or a credit towards a future class.
Why We Have This Policy
Our classes are often small and intimate, with limited spots. When you register, we reserve your place and begin preparing — ordering supplies, scheduling instructors, and turning away others who may wish to join. The 15% administrative fee helps cover processing costs and the behind-the-scenes work required to coordinate our programs.
We appreciate your understanding and for helping us create sustainable, accessible learning opportunities for our community.
*We do understand that life sometimes throws us major curve balls. If you have an extreme extenuating situation please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
